Waxing
Waxing is an easy and efficient way to achieve smooth and hairless skin. With different waxing options available today, this method is often preferred over trimming, shaving, hair removal creams and threading. It can be used on the face, as well as the full body for any unwanted hair.
Waxing is a semi-permanent way to remove hair. Being one of the most popular ways to remove unwanted body hair, it is both quick and convenient. What is also great is that its results are longer lasting when compared to methods such as shaving. Waxing helps to remove unwanted hair from any part of your body including: arms, under arms, legs, back, eyebrows, abdomen, face, bikini area, back and chest. Other hair removal methods, like threading, simply do not give you this flexibility.
Frequently Asked Qestions
The amount of time for your waxing appointment will depend on the area(s) you are treating. Smaller areas can take as little as 15 minutes. The most in depth and larger areas can take up to an hour.
It is very important to take good care of your skin after a waxing appointment. This includes: applying a cold compress to relieve any pain and avoid irritation, ensure the area waxed is clean and free from dirt, avoid excessive heat exposure and tanning, keep the area away from friction for the next 48 hours, avoid hot baths or massage and do not take steam baths. Don’t scratch or touch the area with dirty hands, wear clean, loose clothes that do not cause too much friction, no swimming in chlorinated swimming pools and avoid deodorants or other skincare products like lotions and powders in the waxed area.
Waxing can last anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. This is dependent upon your natural hair growth cycle and if you are taking any supplements to increase hair growth or getting any procedures done to decrease it such as a laser.
Typically people will need to come in for waxing every 3-6 weeks. This will vary from person to person depending on many factors, including your hair growth cycle and if you are taking any supplements. For your convenience you can even book your next waxing before you leave your appointment to ensure you never go without your best look!
Eyebrow waxing can last anywhere between 3-6 weeks, while threading typically lasts 2-5 weeks. So waxing your eyebrows would have slightly longer-lasting results. However, the longevity of the results is pretty darn close and depending on your hair growth pattern, the amount of time both will last could be nearly equal for some clients.
You want to make sure to let your hair grow out for 2-3 weeks in advance. This allows for full hair growth, so that Marcela will be able to create the most suitable and desired shape for eyebrows (or best results on the treated area). If having facial waxing, be sure to have minimal makeup on. Marcela will clean the area to be waxed, but will be most helpful if you have a clean face to start. Avoid using creams containing retinoids two to five days prior to waxing to avoid removing skin along with unwanted hair.
No, waxing is not a permanent hair removal solution. It does however, offer effective extraction of the entire hair with the root, from the follicle. This will leave the follicle empty for some time. But, in three to six weeks, depending on how fast your hair cycle is, the follicle heals itself, and new hair starts to grow. Of note, regular waxing technically causes damage to hair follicles and also weakens the hair. Because of this, many people experience minimal regrowth after this hair removal process. Although in most cases, the hair follicle heals by itself, and new hair starts to grow. If you continue with regular waxing, then over time you will eventually experience slower regrowth, as well as potentially thinner and finer regrowth.
Waxing provides many benefits, including: long lasting smooth skin, exfoliation, fewer ingrown hairs, no skin damage and slower hair regrowth.
